Kaukomarkkinat Ltd, part of Aspo Group, has on July 1, 2012, acquired the business of Somasyr Oy. The business consists of the import and sales of energy accumulators and floor heating systems.  Stainless steel OSO energy accumulators are made in Norway, and are particularly suitable for hybrid systems which utilize several different heat sources. The Swedish-based Flooré specializes in water-based underfloor heating systems for renovations.

For the acquired business, Kaukomarkkinat is targeting at net sales exceeding EUR 800,000 per year. The business was launched in 2009.

As a result of the agreement, the main owner of Somasyr will transfer to Kaukomarkkinat Ltd to strengthen the building technology group which focuses on energy-effective systems.

"According to its strategy, Kaukomarkkinat broadens the offering in energy-effective building technologies. Through the Somasyr deal, we will expand our offering to cover the accumulation and distribution of heat produced with local energy," says Jukka Nieminen, Managing Director of Kaukomarkkinat.

Nieminen says that Kaukomarkkinat is confident that building systems will become more integrated to form functionally seamless packages. It is believed that the soaring energy prices and stringent energy efficiency requirements will increase the demand for water-based underfloor heating systems in renovations.
