Aspo supports John Nurminen Foundation’s work to save the Baltic Sea

Aspo has joined the key partners of the John Nurminen Foundation to promote the protection of the Baltic Sea. This partnership is aligned with Aspo’s goals to develop future maritime infrastructure and reduce the load on water resources.

"The Baltic Sea is our geographical heart and everyday environment. On a global scale, many things are already done correctly and sustainably in the Baltic Sea. However, improving the sea’s condition requires long-term work and broad commitment. The John Nurminen Foundation was a natural choice as our partner," says Taru Uotila, Senior Vice President, Legal and Sustainability, Aspo.

Aspo supports the John Nurminen Foundation’s work in protecting the Baltic Sea and preserving maritime culture during 2026. The Foundation’s mission is to save the Baltic Sea and its heritage for future generations.

“Our small and shallow sea is suffering from the effects of eutrophication and climate change faster than the world’s oceans, which is why swift and effective action is needed. We thank Aspo for supporting our work to protect the sea. These donations make it possible for us to continue our vital work,” says Annamari Arrakoski-Engardt, CEO of the John Nurminen Foundation.

Aspo’s subsidiaries ESL Shipping and Telko are also part of the partnership.
