Chief Executive Officer

The Board of Directors appoints the Chief Executive Officer of Aspo Plc. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the management and development of the company's business and for operational management in accordance with the instructions of the Board of Directors.

The terms and conditions of employment are written into an executive employment contract. Aki Ojanen (born 1961), eMBA, has served as Aspo's Chief Executive Officer since January 1, 2009. The CEO is assisted by the company's Executive Board consisting of the CEO, CFO Arto Meitsalo, Group Treasurer Harri Seppälä, VP Business Development Pekka Piiroinen and Group Legal Counsel Toni Santalahti. CEO specifics are presented in the section "Group Executive Committee".

The period of notice applied to the CEO's term of employment is 6 months. If the company terminates the employment contract, the CEO is entitled to salary for the notice period and a severance payment corresponding to 18 months' salary. 

The CEO's retirement age is 60 years and the CEO has a defined contribution pension plan in which the pension is determined based on the accumulated insurance saving at the time of retirement. In 2009, the pension costs corresponded to approximately 15 per cent of the CEO's annual income.


Salaries, bonuses and fringe benefits

In 2009, CEO Aki Ojanen was paid a total of EUR 349,199 in salary, bonuses and fringe benefits. Bonuses accounted for EUR 85,089 and fringe benefits for EUR 19,860.
